My Morning Manna Luke 11:9-10 (KJV) 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. You have not because you ask not! Many Christians want things, good things like peace, quiet, health, prosperity, and many more that are not necessarily wrong but we don't want to ask God for them. Notice what Jesus is saying here: "Keep on asking... keep on seeking... keep on knocking." In other words, don't come to Him only in time of critical need, but keep in constant communion with your Father. Jesus called this "abiding," and Paul exhorted, "Pray without ceasing." As we pray, be persistent and consistent, God will either answer us in the affirmative or show us why He answers no. Then, He empowers us to do whatever is necessary to align our prayers with God's will in our lives.

My Morning Manna Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. The perfect example of how to run the race of life is Jesus Christ, the author, the originator, or the starter of life with patience and endurance. The course He laid out wasn’t easy, it led to the cross, dying in our place, nevertheless, He knew on the other side of the finish line, joy in Paradise awaited Him at the right hand of the Father. There, He ever lives to make intercession for us, to help us win our race. He has already finished and won the victory for us. Those who put their trust in the Author and Finisher of the race and run the race His way, will win and one day hear “well done,” and experience the same joy the Lord experienced.

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. No Christian would be what he is except for the in-working power of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that convicts a man of sin and that man upon confessing his sin and asking Jesus to forgive him and save him is empowered with the power of God inside himself to ward off any temptation, any problem, any trial or attacks from Satan. God is greater than any and all His enemies including Satan and that greatness and power is what the believer relies on to overcome the evil temptations and trials of life.

2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. So many of the promises we embrace follow the formula of the Old Testament that says, "If you diligently keep these commandments, then God will drive your problems from you, do wondrous things for you, and take total care of you." But in that lies the problem. Oh, I know that if I love the Lord with all my heart, walk in all of His ways, and stay close to Him, then the Lord will indeed do wondrous things for me and through me. The problem is, do I love the Lord with all of my heart? Do I walk in all of His ways? Do I cleave only to Him? The answer, sadly, is no. Therefore, if I'm not doing the "ifs," I can't expect to receive the "thens." This shouldn't surprise me, for the purpose of the law was to show us that we're not righteous, that we can't earn salvation, that we can't possibly keep the standard of righteousness that would be necessary to qualify us to receive the blessings we so desire. The law was given to produce in us the realization that although we wish we could receive the blessings, we can't fulfill the obligations. But here comes Paul, telling us that, because Jesus has fulfilled all the "ifs" in the Old Testament, the promises are all "Yea and Amen" in Him. By His grace and for His glory, when we opened up our hearts to Jesus, God placed us weak and foolish that we are in Christ. And because Christ fulfilled the "ifs," we get the "thens," leaving us nothing to do but say, "Yea and Amen!"

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. People thirst for the refreshing taste of water. It is a necessity for the sustainability of life. People that believe in Jesus Christ also thirst for living water or in other words, spiritual truth. Jesus tells us here that He is that living water, the source of life and only through Him will our thirst ever be satisfied. Not only will we be filled and satisfied completely with Jesus, we will overflow and share the Truth with those around us.

My Morning Manna Psalm 27:4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. No man can see God and live. That's the beauty of what David is saying, if you are desiring God, your flesh cannot live and selfishness cannot exist. More than anything else, David desired the Lords presence in his life, so He could see the beauty or holiness of the Lord. True worship is to behold the presence of God, adoring His perfect holiness. The true worshipper of God does not worship in order to receive a material blessing from God but to gain access into the presence of God and knowledge of the Holy.

My Morning Manna Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. The church today stands in desperate need of more Paul's and Peter's and more prophets of old. Men of God who have seen visions of God and have heard His voice. Men who will stand in firm contradiction to everything this ungodly world holds dear and preach "Thus saith the Lord." Men who will contradict, denounce and protest sin in the name of God and will earn the hatred and opposition of a large segment of religion and even some Christians. Such a man is likely to speak frankly and be a little bit angry with the world and fears no man. He will love Christ and the souls of men to the point of willingness to die for the glory of the One and the salvation of the other. Men who are willing to take up their crosses and follow their Lord. Men who will finish the race that is set before them. Where are the Elijah's of today?

My Morning Manna Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Abraham Lincoln said, "I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God." The truth that there is a God, that He is who He says He is, that He is is what He says He is, is revealed to us through the skillful and perfect work of His masterful hands in creating what we can see of His universe. David as a young boy watching over his father’s sheep at night probably had looked up at the stars and saw the sermon they preached many times. We can too! Only a fool will say there is no God after beholding His creation. God, the magnificent artist of the skies, wants people to know Him personally. He has made Himself known to us through natural revelation and the Bible, His works and His Word. Glory to God!

My Morning Manna Mark 2:16-17 (KJV) 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Pharisees and self-righteous people see no need to repent of their sins and believe in Jesus as the only way to God. But Jesus knew that everyone, including "the righteous," are sinful. He came into the world to call sinners, to seek and save the lost, those who humbly acknowledge their need to be saved and receive His gracious forgiveness, to God's kingdom. This was why Jesus ate with sinners. This is why Jesus came. What a wonderful friend we have in Jesus, oh, what a Saviour.

Luke 9:24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. If a person 'saves his life' or spends his life living for his own selfish ways, if he works to please himself, he will lose his life eternally. There is a way that seems right unto man but in the end, it leads to death. That's called being lost. Surrender your life to Christ and be found. Not my selfish will but Thy will be done. The person who loses his life, who gives his life to Christ, who works to please and glorify Christ on this earth, shall save his life eternally.

My Morning Manna Mark 11:25-26 (KJV) And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. This is a critical condition in prayer, a condition that is stressed time and again by Jesus. It does no good to pray unless you forgive others. Hard feelings, anger and animosity against another person are sins. It is evidence that we have not truly turned from our own sins and are not really honest in seeking forgiveness. One who has accepted God's forgiveness is expected to forgive others just as God has forgiven him. If he does not, he forfeits God's forgiveness in his daily life. No request for forgiveness is granted unless a man has completely forgiven all others. For a man to pray with grudges and unforgiveness in his heart is like a tree full of leaves but without any fruit. That tree is good for nothing and neither is a person unwilling to forgive his fellow man. For the church to have any power today we must remove those grudges and forgive others. Then we can come before the Throne of Grace and beg forgiveness and mercy from our Lord and Saviour.

Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. To the followers of Jesus two thousand years ago, the world although evil seemed permanent. Today many fear it's destruction by nuclear weapons, global warming, or chemical weapons. Jesus tells us however, that even when Heaven and earth pass away, the truth of His word will remain forever and everything He has spoken will come to pass. The word of God remains the only thing stable in an unstable world.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. We are in a war; a spiritual battle and we wrestle with the enemy daily. Our enemy is Satan and the spiritual forces of darkness, who do his bidding in opposing the will of God on earth, not some physical army consisting of our fellow man. Satan is a liar, the deceiver, the accuser of the brethren, the destroyer and the adversary of our souls. We need to know our enemy and all his evil schemes so that we can ward off every attack and every fiery dart he hurls our way. Our enemy is a defeated foe. We need not be intimidated by him as long as we have on the full armor of God and keep our guard up. God has given us the spiritual tools we need to stand and fight and win the spiritual battles that we face. Keep your armor on, your shield up your sword drawn, be on the lookout and above all pray. The battle is the Lord's.

My Morning Manna 1 Corinthians 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. Olympians train rigorously for four years to run a race that only last for seconds and at the most only a few hours. Think of the effort and sacrifices those athletes make to win a meager gold, silver or bronze medal. The Christian race, like those of the ancient Isthmian and Olympic games, involves our sincere dedication and devotion. Our salvation and eternal life in heaven with our Lord and Saviour are all free gifts from Him. They can't be earned no matter how hard we train or fast we run. Nevertheless, the Bible has much to say about our rewards for our faithfulness to run the race set before us, to obey the commands of our Lord, to take up our cross and follow him. Jesus, Himself said that He is coming quickly and His rewards are with Him. Those rewards will be based on His satisfaction with us as His obedient and devoted children. Unlike the small Olympic medals and the fleeting thrill of victory, our rewards and victory will last forever!

My Morning Manna Romans 7:15-17 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. The Apostle Paul was one of the greatest Christians that has ever lived, if not the greatest. Yet struggling with his sinful flesh was a constant battle even with him. Paul, just like all of us had a propensity to sin. As long as we live in this world, born again believers will face a constant struggle between their sinful nature and their spiritual life. Struggling in one's own strength never does any good because as long as we live in the flesh, temptation to sin and our inclination to sin is ever present with us. But God, sends the Holy Spirit to help us in our struggle. Being born again occurs in a moment of faith when we trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. But becoming like Christ, perfect and sinless, takes more than a lifetime, it will only happen in Glory!

My Morning Manna Romans 1:28 (KJV) 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; The term "reprobate mind" means a mind that has rejected and disapproved God, a mind that is degraded and depraved; a mind that cannot accept nor stand the test of God's judgment. A mind that simply does not want God to have anything to do with their lives; therefore, they push Him out of their minds and out of their lives and out of the way. They ignore and refuse to accept God's love, mercy and grace. Error always blinds; and the longer you embrace it, the more blind you become. It is the curse of God for rejecting His truth.
